Our Mission

The goal of the Centre is to provide a safe and caring environment for adults with disabilities in our care, where all enjoy equal human rights and freedoms and where social needs are met.

Daphne Lee Centre is a Centre for those adults who are physically or mentally challenged, who came from a poor social background and who are over the age of 18 years.
The Centre was established on 3 April 1981 as an initiative by Sr. Daphne Lee who identified a need for a place of safety for physically and mentally challenged adults who could not actively participate in the working environment.
We offer both a Residential and Day-Care Programme at the Centre where all 60 clients in our care enjoy equal human rights and freedoms, and where social needs are met. A variety of creative activities and sport promotes opportunities for mental stimulation and socialisation as well as encouraging a sense of hope and positive living. Our programmes strive to achieve the following for our clients:
- Provide consistency and stability
- Encourage independence and self-confidence
- Develop physical and mental abilities
- Cater to their spiritual needs and,
- Empower the adults so that their dependence on their care-givers is minimal and their “work” potential optimised in the different creative workshops.
Caring is a priority for the Centre and our biggest challenge daily is the necessary funds to be able to provide a professional service to our clients and implement our Programmes effectively, as the Centre is only particialy funded by the government.
